Bowdoin

Built in Booth Bay, Maine in 1921, she made nearly 30 voyages to the ice jammed waters of the arctic. Still sailing, she is a national landmark.

Lackawanna

Seagoing tug of 1900, she was painted white to show off the clean burning qualities of the hard anthracite coal she used for fuel

In 1578, sir Frances Drake set off in search of the Northwest passage. In 1580, he was the 1st man to circumnavigate the globe.

Berlin

The frigate Berlin was built in 1674 as a 15 gun warship for the Grand Electorate of Brandenburg. She saw almost continuous action in the Mediterranean as well as the Baltic until 1681. In 1688 she was captured by the Dutch and never seen again.

Egyptian Transport

Typical of the vessels used during the reign of King Sahure (over 2,000 years ago), the Egyptian Transport carried cedar and ebony from Lebanon to Egypt. Ship builders of that era did not use pegs (treenails) or metal fasteners, but relied on rope to keep their ships afloat. Keel, frames and deck were tightly tied together.
